LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – The “Scream” franchise has announced that its 50th film installment is officially in the works and set to release in 2064. The original stars from the first movie (Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox) plan to return for filming in spring 2063.
There have been minor leaks of the script by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media, who have said that the film is set in Sidney Evans’ (Neve Campbell) retirement community. In the movie, Sidney and Gale (Courtney Cox) have moved on from fighting off Ghostface and are trying to find peace in the secluded territories of Alaska. They moved up north to escape the horrors of their past and live in a small, tight-knit elderly community. Unfortunately, as always, their past has followed them like a ghost, and this time Ghostface is in the Bear Ridge Retirement Community.
“It’s gonna be a wild ride. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store for the big screen. I love my “Scream” family, and I’m so excited to be back,” said Neve Campbell, who is reprising her role as Sidney, in an interview on the Tonight Show.
It’ll be almost 70 years since the first movie was released and both new and longtime fans eagerly await this revived horror classic.
“I’ve loved ‘Scream’ since I was little and being a part of it for this long has been an absolute dream come true,” said Isabel May, actress for Tatum Evans, Sidney’s daughter.
Costume, set and design for this production have said that viewers are in for a treat when it comes to the new Ghostface disguise. While paying homage to the original costume, a white mask and black robe, they have decided to add black boots with gadgets and places for weapon storage to the costume.
“Scream 50” or “Scream L,” if they follow with the roman numeral theme, is sure to be a spectacle for the horror community. Generations of fans will be flooding the theaters, excited to see on the big screen what might be the last film in the franchise.
“Scream” has always had a special place in horror fans hearts and the 50th film is sure to be a bittersweet end.
