LOS ALAMITOS, CA — The music blasted in the quad as Los Alamitos High School students danced along during KIIS FM’s visit with Ryan Seacrest! On Thursday, April 24, 102.7 KIIS-FM radio stopped at Los Al for their 20th Anniversary Thank You Tour. With Seacrest and his team, giveaways, and astounding music, this visit was a memorable time for Griffins.

Seacrest and his crew are currently on a tour of Southern California, “Ryan Rides OC to LA,” for their 20-year anniversary of KIIS-FM. Seacrest’s visit to Los Al was short-lived because of his busy schedule, but he left us in great hands with the other KIIS-FM staff members.

“I wanted to thank you guys for listening to KIIS-FM in the morning…We’re celebrating 20 years on air, but I want to try and take as many pictures and say ‘hi’ with everybody I can. I’ll pass the mic, crank up the music… LOS ALAMITOS, GO GRIFFINS!” Seacrest said.

Tanya Rad and Sisanie Villaclara also came to the event with Seacrest to visit their alma mater, Los Al! Villaclara graduated from Los Al in 2002, and Rad graduated in 2005. Tanya and Sisanie are both co-hosts for “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” and were thrilled to come back to Los Al.

“It is so amazing being back here,” said Villaclara to the crowd of Griffins on Thursday. “I love this school. I love this community. You guys are all beautiful and wonderful, and we’re gonna have fun today!”

Students varied on opinions about the visit, but most were positive. There were some questions as to why Seacrest was there or who he was, while others were excited at the idea of meeting someone they listen to on the radio every morning.

“I didn’t really know who he was,” said Rory Young, a freshman.

Tye Hollywood, KIIS-FM’s DJ, said that the tour has been amazing and that he was delighted to hang out with Los Al students.

“We got Ryan Seacrest popping up at your school!” Hollywood said during the event. “We’re gonna play some music, do some giveaways, and have a good time.”

Some students were excited to find out that ASB and the event staff were launching T-shirts into the crowd. Students ran and fought the crowd hoping to get a free keepsake. Another huge surprise Seacrest announced during the tour stop was donating $5,000 to the school.

“We’re so honored to be a part of your tour stop. We have an amazing school with amazing kids, and our programs are exceptional,” said Mrs. Kraus. “We are so excited to have you here. Thank you so much!”
