LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – As the school year draws to a close, the campaigns and elections for next year have only just begun. Los Alamitos High School students have put in the work to advertise themselves as future Associated Student Body class presidents for the 2026-2027 school year. The voting opened Friday, March 27, at 8 a.m. and closed at 3 p.m., giving all LAHS students the option to vote for their upcoming class presidents.
Anyone running for an elected position in ASB must run with a partner who goes through campaign week together and, if they are chosen for the position, does the job required throughout the school year.

Nylah Minter and Gianna Maggiore, LAHS freshmen, ran for sophomore class president and are determined to help their class show more school spirit.
“I’ve noticed that our (freshman) class struggles to show our school spirit. We are looking to bring everyone together and make our school a more inclusive place,” said Minter.
“Our goal is to make everyone break out of their shell and come together as a school instead of feeling like everybody is in separate groups, and to overall feel comfortable showing our school spirit,” said Maggiore.
“We make a really good team together. We’ve been friends for 11 years, and we have the skills to communicate and talk, as friends and as students,” said Minter
The other two freshmen candidates running for this position are Emery Nash and Eva Monge as one pair, and Ellie Dyer and Raya Paradsani as another pair. After their hard work, Minter and Maggiore won and are ready to serve as the sophomore class presidents next year.

LAHS sophomores Demiana Ibrahim and Mandy Everett, who are also currently ASB’s sophomore class presidents, ran for junior class presidents for next school year.
“I would like to change the student involvement at our school, I think we can improve that,” said Ibrahim. “We want to run for junior class president because we want to bring our class together and show kindness throughout our school.”
“We are excited to be possible junior presidents because it exposes our class to being upperclassmen and shows leadership to the rest of the school,” said Everett.
“Determined, inclusive and kind” are the three words Ibrahim and Everett use to describe themselves as a duo, but also as your possible junior class presidents.
Running against sophomores Ibrahim and Everett are Vivane Brown and Rylee Marshall, along with Brady Nyguen and Helena Hang. Despite their heavy campaign, ultimately, Nyguen and Hang won the election and will serve as the next junior class presidents.

Lastly, LAHS juniors Addie Amundson and Aven Johnson ran for senior co-presidents to ensure that senior year will be the best one yet.
“We’re here to take student input and make senior year amazing, and just to make it super fun as our last year at Los Al,” said Amundson.
“We want to create more school-wide events, and although we are running for senior class presidents, we would also want to collaborate with the other grades to ensure that everybody gets to do all the fun things as a school,” said Johnson.
“Our goal is to make everybody come together, it’s our last year, we just want to make it as best as we can,” said Amundson.
“Crazy, awesome people” are the words Johnson and Amundson chose to describe themselves in three words.
Juniors Saydee Ravelo and Maddie Hood ran against Amundson and Johnson for the position, ultimately winning the roles as 2026-2027 senior class co-presidents.
