LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Homecoming is tomorrow, Sept. 28, and countless couples around campus have asked each other with signs, flowers and sweet messages. Though this tradition sounds cliché, here are three foolproof methods to ask out your sweetheart this Homecoming season.
1. Signs
Making a sign is a bold and creative way to ask your special someone to the Homecoming dance. Try finding things they like and incorporating them to add a personal flair to the proposal.
“What stood out was that he knew I like Taco Bell and used that as inspiration for his sign,” said Los Alamitos High School freshman Delilah Bonilla.
Creating a sign also shows your loved one that you made an effort. To make this proposal extra memorable, try using a play on words.
“I would recommend a good play on words to make it special. It made me laugh and showed he cares,” Bonilla said.
2. Flowers
Giving your sweetheart a bouquet has always been a classic and timeless proposal. Roses, lilies, tupis, and daisies are just a few of the flowers you can use.
“I was so surprised by his kind gesture. It made me feel so special,” said freshman Kaelynn Allen.
Dress up the flowers using ribbons or custom wrapping to personalize your proposal.
“What stood out to me was that he paid attention to detail and found my favorite flowers before asking me,” Allen said.
3. Messages
Sending a sweet message to your special someone is an easy way to ask them out to Homecoming. Be creative, and take advantage of being able to revise your proposal before sending it.
“I liked that he spent time writing his proposal,” said freshman Quinn Johnson.
Messages are a very popular proposal, but make sure to put in some effort. Even though it’s not in person, you should still put your feelings into your proposal.
Asking your loved one to the dance may seem intimidating, but be sure to do your research and prepare beforehand. Signs, flowers and messages are just a few different ways to propose. And remember, it’s the thought that counts. Griffins, have a wonderful time at Homecoming!
