Los Alamitos High School junior Melia Rafuse is an Advanced Placement Photography student who loves bird photography. “Mitred Parakeets” and “Pigeon” are part of Rafuse’s Sustained Investigation project for her AP Art and Design portfolio.
“My question is ‘How can I expose the effects of human creation on birds?’” Rafuse said. “These photos are a part of me and how I view the world. I want viewers to try to notice more things that usually go unnoticed in everyday life, and to try and look for beauty in unexpected things.”
