LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Whether students are struggling with school work, searching for a job, finding out where they want to go for college or just need a break during the day, Los Alamitos High School offers a variety of resources for students to meet their goals.

Tutoring at the media center is available before school, starting at 7:30 a.m. After-school tutoring is available from 2:15 – 5:30 p.m. from Mondays to Thursdays and until 3:30 p.m. on Fridays. Some of the help is from fellow students, and some is from teachers. Tutoring is offered for all math levels, English, Spanish, French, biology and chemistry.

Students can also stay after school in the media center even if they don’t need tutoring and would prefer to get their homework done in a quiet place.

“I enjoy having a quiet place to do my work,” said Alexia Kontes, a junior at LAHS.

If a student is looking for a job, is having trouble finding businesses that are hiring and is wondering what to do, the College and Career Center is open for employment options. Even if students don’t want to go in, they offer resources online

On the website, students can find work permits, tips for nailing their interviews, completing an application and their rights as a student worker. If they visit the virtual job board, they can see current job listings in the Los Alamitos area.

In the College and Career Center, students can find career guidance, college planning and testing information (e.g., AP, SATs). The center also helps students who need help planning their college goals.

The final resource on campus is the WellSpace. The WellSpace is designed for students if they need a break from a class and want to do some mental health activities. Inside, students can find tools such as coloring materials, Legos, slime, books and more. Students can also speak to one of the counselors in the WellSpace if they need someone to talk to. Outside, students can find the Oasis garden where the smell of lavender takes over. A perfect spot to calm down.

To conclude, LAHS has many resources to help students succeed. Students can get tutoring, career advice, and mental health help at any time of day.
