During the winter holiday season, the Sleeping Beauty Castle glows with colored lights and icicle decorations at night.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA – 8.7 miles from Los Alamitos High School is the “Happiest Place on Earth.” Disneyland is now prepared for the winter with all of its holiday decorations and events. The theme parks are filled with snowflakes, lights, and festive decor for the rest of the season.

Disneyland is known for its fun decorations and characters all year round, but the park gets even more exciting around holidays. In February, hearts and flowers fill the parks for Valentine’s Day. Easter eggs and pastel colors come alive when spring is in the air.

On the fourth of July, there is a big fireworks show to the sound of patriotic music. And if you miss the fireworks celebration, there are many other opportunities to view the show.

At the end of the year, Disneyland decorates for Halloween, with spooky pumpkins and spiderwebs everywhere. When Halloween is over, the winter holiday decor is quickly distributed and stays up until the middle of January.

The winter holidays are definitely one of the most popular times for people to visit the parks because of all the different events that are held, which will be in effect until Jan. 7.

The Sleeping Beauty Castle is the entrance to Fantasyland and one of the most anticipated holiday attractions. The castle is full of twinkling lights, icicles, and wreaths: the perfect spot for photos. The rest of the theme park is decorated with jolly snowmen, snowflakes, and tons of festive lights.

The decorations are not only for Christmas. Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Three Kings Day are also celebrated in the parks. To coordinate with the holidays, there are also different holiday-inspired foods and snacks.

“The decorations added so much more to the experience and felt so much more festive,” said Ava Lujan, a senior at Los Alamitos High School.

To make the festive season come to life, Disney holds a “Festival of Holidays” to celebrate the holidays of different cultures and ethnicities. The festival includes dance-alongs, character sightings, cultural foods, and music, all of which are different from the normal day-to-day activities.

The festival draws in many families, whether they are already Disney-goers or not. All of these activities will take place on the Disney California Adventure side of the theme park. Besides the festival activity times, both the Disneyland and California Adventure parks are opening and operating as usual.

Because of these holiday festivities, the park can get pretty busy, so it is best to plan and get your tickets ahead of time so you can see all of the amazing decorations and participate in some of the seasonal events.
