LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Los Alamitos High School’s drawing and painting class will be hosting its Tiny Art Show this week on March 6, from 6-7 p.m., and on March 7 and 8 during lunch. This mini art show is inspired by student artists who create tiny works of art on business cards to showcase their talent. Some full-size drawings and paintings will also be presented. This mini art show will showcase the talent and effort art students have put into their work.

“The idea of the Tiny Art Show is [that] the students are making artists’ trading cards,” said Mrs. Crutchfield, Los Al’s drawing and painting teacher. “They’re similar to Pokemon or baseball cards where artists will create a miniature artwork and then use it to trade with other artists.”

Drawing and painting is a great way to express different ideas and emotions. This art show will allow students to present all their thoughts on a mini canvas through different creative techniques.

“I believe the art show holds a very special place on campus. It isn’t every day that we can experience the limitlessness of human creativity,” said Soren Maxfield-Sawada, a senior. “Los Alamitos High School is unique in giving students the opportunity to express and display their artistic talents. You really can’t take the art show for granted!”

This art show is open for all to see. Everyone is encouraged to come whether or not they are in an art class. Incoming freshmen who are considering drawing and painting are also encouraged to come to the gallery during Los Al’s Spring Showcase on Wednesday, March 6.

“Students have expressed the desire for their families to come and their friends,” said Mrs. Crutchfield. “They have also talked about how it would be nice to connect not just at [Spring Showcase] but [on] a regular basis.”

The Tiny Art Show is a great way for students to learn about Los Al’s art classes that can be considered for next school year. The drawing and painting class has developed many different ways for students to showcase their paintings and will continue to create new opportunities for the Los Al community to view their artwork.

Such a good article, Reese! It’s well-written, and now I might just have to stop by the show to see it because it sounds fun.
