LOS ALAMITOS, CA – Club advisors lined the sides of a narrow passage between classrooms, divided by a vast sea of students. Fliers, candy, and popsicles were passed out while peers signed up for clubs. Excited voices rang all throughout campus and that only means one thing, Club Rush is back at Los Alamitos High School. Club rush is an event that took place on Tuesday, September 20 and Wednesday, September 21 designed for students to join any clubs that spark their interests. There are a total of 94 clubs from religion and community service, education and language, and many more offered to all students on campus.

There are also many new clubs where students can express their creativity. The Creating Writing Club focuses on the lessons about creative writing and is a place where students can work on whatever writing they want to.

“It will also provide students with the opportunity to write their own stories or work on essays for college or school,” said Alicia Tan, the president.

The Arts and the Apparel Design Club allows club members to create, modify, and resize clothes.

Clubs like the French Club offer food during meetings so students can enjoy the culture while learning about it.

Aleina Tu’ufuli, a board member, said French Club is “an opportunity for students to learn more about Parisian culture and traditions.”

Some clubs have even competed in national championships. The Hydrogen Racing Club, a club where one can engineer their own hydrogen race car, placed third last year in the National Championships. This year, with the help of incoming students, they believe they can make it to the World Championships.

Clubs are not only confined to the school campus. There are also clubs that meet outside of school, such as Roll With It: Dungeons and Dragons, who play on Discord, and the Co-Act Club holds charity events to raise money in various communities in and around Los Alamitos.

There are an incredible amount of exciting clubs this year, all pertaining to the interests of any student on campus.
