LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — The beautiful cities of Italy will be visited by Los Alamitos High School students for a spring break trip led by Mrs. Franzen, Ms. Kibtya and Ms. Whitefield. During the trip, students will experience the cities of Venice, Florence, Tuscany and Rome on this 10-day trip. Students will have the opportunity to experience the art of the Renaissance, visit amphitheaters and ancient ruins and engage in various other activities to gain exposure to a wide range of experiences.
“I am looking forward to seeing the beauty of Italy and seeing a place I’ve always dreamed of seeing,” said Kaylyn Kekacs, an LAHS sophomore attending the trip.
This trip is an excellent chance for students who want to fulfill their dreams of traveling. Students who are interested in exploring and have a curiosity for Italian culture can have the opportunity to experience the finest corners of Italy with peers on this field trip. Students will get more than just experience in a foreign country, but also an encounter with cultural differences and adapting themselves to new environments. Being able to explore Italy’s rich culture, from art to cuisine.
“I love traveling with students because seeing it through their eyes and their experiences is like doing it again for the first time,” said Mrs. Franzen, Modern Literature and Advanced Placement Literature teacher at LAHS.
Students will visit locations like Roman Amphitheaters and learn about the Shakespeare’s tradgedy “Romeo and Juliet,” the play based in Verona, Italy. Students will also get to visit the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the wonders of the Vatican. This trip also consists of fun activities like candle making, a guided food tour, glassblowing, a gondola ride and an Aperitivo dinner with a pesto making class.
“I’m so excited for this trip,” said Naomi Dixon, another LAHS sophomore going on the trip.
Students will be able to explore a different side of the world and culture that is contrasting to our own. This gives students a chance to learn about different cultural standards and adapt to a new environment.
