LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — As the school year comes to an end, many seniors are getting excited about the upcoming senior events. Here is a guide of what to expect for each event as seniors bring their time at Los Alamitos High School to a close.
“I’m probably most excited for the Elementary School visit,” senior Ashley Wu said.
- Class of 2025 senior banners
Until May 23, seniors and their families can order special banners to celebrate their student. The banners will be displayed along the LAHS track during Baccalaureate on June 3. Afterwards, seniors will be able to take their banner home to display during the senior parade or on their front lawn.
- Prom
On May 17, seniors will attend their final high school prom at the California Science Center from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. This year’s prom theme is “A Night Under the Stars,” and students are encouraged to wear formal attire. Tickets can be purchased at the LAHS Activities Department.
- Cap and gown pickup
Seniors can pick up their cap, gown, and all accompanying cords/sashes on May 19 and 20 in room 500 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Awards Night
On May 22, seniors (by invitation only) will attend their awards night at the LAHS Performing Arts Center to receive various awards, scholarships and praise for their academic achievements.
- Yearbook distribution
On May 27, students of all grades will go to room 500 to receive their yearbooks during class. To purchase yours for $100, go to the Activities Office or click this link.
- PTSA Awards of Excellence
In the College and Career Center during lunch on May 30, students who have been nominated by their teachers will receive awards and enjoy some snacks and refreshments.
- Senior Parade
On May 31, seniors will gather at the Shops at Rossmoor in their decked-out cars and caps and gowns to drive through the streets of Rossmoor where they will be celebrated by friends and family.
- School materials return
From May 29 through June 4, seniors must return all textbooks, Chromebooks and other school materials to the LAHS Media Center. Students must complete this to receive their “Yellow Clear Ticket,” which is used to release the complimentary tickets for graduation.
- Elementary school visits
As a bittersweet send-off, seniors who attended elementary school in the Los Alamitos Unified School District will visit their elementary schools and visit their old teachers.
- Baccalaureate
At the LAHS John Barnes Field, seniors and their families will gather on June 3 at 6:30 p.m. to receive awards, including the Seal of Biliteracy, academic honors and other awards. Seniors are also able to sign up to give a speech at Baccalaureate.
- Graduation
Graduation will be held on June 5 at Dignity Health Sports Park. Each student and their eight complimentary guests will be able to attend to celebrate their students’ fantastic achievements and watch them receive their diploma.
- Grad Night
For their final LAHS senior event, seniors who purchased tickets will go to Disneyland and California Adventure (California Adventure only from 8 p.m. and onwards) on June 6. This is the perfect send-off event for students to celebrate their time in high school and their accomplishments over the past four years!
