LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — One of Los Alamitos High School’s clubs, Kindness Collective, was created in 2023 by Zack Dollins with a goal to promote kindness on campus and make individuals feel included.

Since the club’s development, Kindess Collective has hosted food drives, book drives, life skills events, beach clean-ups, and more. Each of these events has been successful and has spread compassion to both their recipients and participants. The club meets every other Thursday at lunch in room 402 to discuss upcoming events and methods to foster a positive environment.

“Kindness Collective is a club rooted in the genuine intent to spread positivity across campus – powered by the diverse input and passions of our board and members. Whether it’s within our local community, volunteer initiatives, or collaborations with other organizations, our goal remains the same: to make kindness contagious,” said Khloe Tran, senior and club president.

Next Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Kindess Collective members will participate in a Life Skills collaboration event alongside any student who chooses to sign up. The event will take place during third period, and those who sign up will be excused from that class.

The event will consist of spending time with and doing spring-related activities with the Life Skills and special needs students. The activities will be engaging for everyone who attends, making attending the event a worthwhile activity.

“This event is beneficial for its participants because it fosters inclusivity and diversity in a world where it is much needed”, said Adrian Lopez, next year’s club president.

Those who are searching for a space that creates joy and offers multiple volunteer opportunities should be sure to attend this event and attend Kindness Collective’s next meeting. Together, students at LAHS can fight to make the campus a better place and to bring all students closer together.

“As my time at the high school comes to a close, I have no doubt the club will continue to grow, and I know that both new and returning members will keep empowering others to find their own call to serve and spark change, just as it did for me,” Tran said.
