LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Los Alamitos High School’s holiday show titled “Xtravaganzalorious” has been highly anticipated by Los Alamitos High School families this year to celebrate the holiday season. The show debuted on Dec. 5-7, Thursday through Saturday, and featured a mix of Hannukkah, Christmas and other festive holiday songs. As a first-time attendee of a holiday-themed choir show, I had high expectations and was completely blown away by the LAHS choir program’s performance.
From the moment I walked into the Performing Arts Center, I was transported into a winter wonderland with festive Christmas decorations. The PAC was impressively decorated, and the staff, dressed in holiday attire, warmly welcomed and escorted guests to their seats. This attention to detail and the welcoming atmosphere reassured me that this show would be one to remember.
As the lights dimmed, the opening number featuring all choirs dazzled the audience with professional choreography and stunning vocals. The students’ costumes sparkled as they danced, immersing the audience in an “Xtravaganzalorious” holiday paradise. The following numbers were equally impressive, with standout performances from freshman soloists Dylan Lobo, Sienna Esposito, Riley Evans and Noah McKenzie. Their talent left the audience in awe as they sang and danced with passion.
“I think I did really well tonight, and I’m so excited for my next show. I’ve always wanted to sing in front of an audience, and choir allows me to do that,” Esposito, a freshman in the “Axcent” choir, said.
Following Esposito’s solo, choir student Maddie Diggle wowed the audience with her powerful voice in her rendition of “(Everybody’s Waitin’ for) The Man with the Bag.” Students Sofia Gutterman and Devan Medina’s performance of “White Christmas” was equally impressive, with their voices blending beautifully and Medina’s stage presence captivating the audience.
Apart from serious performances, there were also humorous ones, such as “The Chipmunk Song,” in which the performing choir students used balloons filled with helium to make their voices higher.
“My favorite part of the choir show was “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late),” sung by Nicholas Allen, Barron Bliss-Frisinger and Joey Santagata. They surprised me when they used helium to make their voices sound higher,” show attendee Sophia Ruiz said.
Whether you’re celebrating Hannukkah, Christmas or more, the LAHS holiday choir show is a must to get you in the holiday spirit. Make sure to come to the next choir show and support the LAHS choir program!
