LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — This week, Los Alamitos High School’s art classes opened the Winter Art Show to present students’ creative work. The drawing and painting, ceramics and photography classes all collaborated to show their art on display. The artwork was open to everyone at lunch in the Griffin Gallery from Monday, Nov. 18, to Friday, Nov. 22, with teachers having the choice to schedule an in-class tour of the show.
“As a ceramics student, I’m very excited to see what the winter show will present,” LAHS sophomore Marily Solis said.
This year’s art show featured pieces depicting landscapes and detailed buildings from the LAHS campus and nearby areas. Each piece of artwork emphasizes the structure and unique style of the artist.
“The work is representing the structures on campus and outside of school. The students are using expressive colors to try and have a connection with them,” said Mrs. Krutchfield, the drawing and painting teacher.
“I would definitely go see (the art show) just to see everyone display there different kinds of creativity, share their art with the school and inspire others to be more creative,” said Naomi Dixon, LAHS freshman.
This collaboration between art classes allows for more students to show off their work, as well as build a connection to other artists they would not normally interact with. The art show has encouraged plenty of excitement among students around campus because of its easy accessibility during lunch.
“I am very excited about the winter art show and can’t wait to see all of the new artist’s work,” said Riley Mitchell, a former drawing and painting student.
The LAHS Winter Art Show will presented at a public show on Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m. at the Griffin Gallery. Make sure to check out all the beautiful art and the huge effort students put into the show by attending their public show!
