LOS ALAMITOS, Calif — Lyrical genius Tyler Gregory Okonma (AKA: Tyler, The Creator) teased his seventh studio album last spring, and it was recently released on Oct. 28 with Colombia Records. The album was supported by the single “Noid,” as well as two promotional singles, “St. Chroma” and “Thought I Was Dead.” Tyler, known for his unique spin on rap music, has collaborated with famous artists such as Daniel Caesar, Doechii, GloRilla, LaToiya Williams, Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red, Playboi Carti, and Teezo Touchdown to create his best studio album yet: “Chromakopia.”
Trucks and shipping containers with the phrase “Chromakopia” have been spotted in various cities across the U.S., including Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Columbus, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
“After hearing about the trucks on TikTok, I have been on the lookout for them. I can’t wait for his album to come out,” said Los Alamitos High School freshman Juliana Ramos.
Long-time Tyler fans have been anticipating this new album since last spring. On Oct. 16, the artist released a teaser for his latest album, “ST. CHROMA.” The teaser video introduces fans to his original character, “St. Chroma.” Though not much is known about this character, it is said that he is based on the 1961 children’s novel “The Phantom Tollbooth.”
Across countless social media platforms, Tyler has been consistently posting about his upcoming album, teasing and riling up his fans. From merch drops to trailers, “Chromakopia” is well on its way to reaching the top of the music charts.
“I have listened to Tyler, The Creator, for almost five years. I heard it’s going to feature many famous artists,” said Sophia Nagy, a freshman at LAHS.
Though there is still much more to unpack about Tyler, The Creator’s new album “Chromakopia,” there is one thing for certain — this album is here to top the charts.
