LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Los Alamitos High School’s Griffin Gazette Live is launching its first episode of the year on the official Griffin Gazette website, YouTube and Instagram. After beginning this project in the journalism class last year, the Griffin Gazette is now collaborating with the advanced film class, Focus Studios, to produce their broadcast news episodes.
Griffin Gazette Live will be covering world, campus and community news in a clean and brief manner, while also teasing recently published articles on the Griffin Gazette. It’s a perfect video for those who want to see what’s been going on at LAHS or those who may want to catch up on the Griffin Gazette’s latest articles. Griffin Gazette Live will grow with time, so make sure to keep up with the episodes on YouTube.
“I’m so glad that this year we have so many students who are interested in it and that we can really grow the project with the support from Focus Studious, the help of Mr. Brown and the whole team working there,” said Sydney Forsyte, a senior in journalism and director of Griffin Gazette Live.
“I think it could bring real news,” said Leonard Rosa, a sophomore in Focus Studios who helped with sound on the first episode. “Griffin News is all there for fun, but (Griffin Gazette Live) is a lot more informative, and I think a lot more kids these days need information.”
“I can get a lot more experience on different topics,” said Charlie Wysocki, a Focus Studios senior and editor of Griffin Gazette Live’s first episode. “If I decide to go for a job in film, I’ll have more options.”
The program will discuss a short introduction to each article, and if someone wants to know more about the topic, the Griffin Gazette website has the articles published by journalism students. The main purpose of Griffin Gazette Live is to promote the Griffin Gazette, increase readership for students’ stories and inform the Los Alamitos community. The journalism students put a lot of hard work in to their reporting, and they want as many people as possible to read their articles.
“It’s a good thing for students to watch (to) stay caught up with what’s happening outside and inside school,” said Giulietta Morad, one of the anchors for the first broadcast.
“I think it’s important for people to tune into stuff like this,” said LAHS film teacher Mr. Brown. “The biggest thing is the information that you’re given, so if you’re willing to watch and absorb that information, you could find a lot more fun in high school.”
As the Griffin Gazette proceeds to put out articles covering news for LAHS students, the stories will continue to be featured in Griffin Gazette Live. Over time, the broadcast will continue to develop and improve. The Griffin Gazette is so excited to put out its first broadcast of the year on Sunday, Sept. 29, so make sure to tune in Griffins!

I love all the quotes you have from the Griffin Gazette and Focus Studios people! I agree that this could bring a good balance- having the fun skits from Griffin News and the live coverage from Griffin Gazette!
