LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Los Alamitos High School’s Club Rush is this Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 18-19. The upcoming lunch event, located in front of the gym, will showcase all clubs and provide information on how to join.
This year, Club Rush will feature about 100 clubs, which are made up of new and returning clubs. According to ASB club commissioner Joy Shenouda, the most popular clubs on campus are CSF (California Scholarship Federation), Christian Club and Model United Nations. These clubs each hold an environment for students to express their interests and hobbies.
“We’re hoping to accomplish higher membership and less empty-name clubs that are meeting frequently,” Shenouda said.
One of the clubs featured at Club Rush is the Red Cross Club. The Red Cross Club is an extension of the American Red Cross, an organization that helps serve the community through volunteering and donations. Members of the Red Cross Club can volunteer at blood drives and create care packages for veterans. Students can join the Red Cross Club at Club Rush by signing up or attending their meetings held every other Thursday at lunch in room 104.
“We hope to build enthusiasm for humanitarian causes and demonstrate that through our club, students can contribute both locally and globally to life-saving initiatives,” said Addison Butler, the president of the Red Cross Club.
Another club that will be at Club Rush is the Literature Appreciation Club. Bella Kim and Sydney Forsyte founded this club for students to read and discuss new books together. Students can join during Club Rush by signing up or going to their meetings held every Friday at lunch in room 351.
“I’m hoping for new members excited about books and sharing ideas,” said Hailey Flom, an LAC member.
Make sure to check out all of the LAHS clubs at Club Rush, held at lunch in front of the gym tomorrow and Thursday.
