LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Starting Oct. 15, student docents can help Anne Frank LA make an impact at Los Alamitos High School. The traveling exhibit will be at LAHS from Oct. 15-25 to teach students about the importance of democracy, the dangers of prejudice and discrimination and how to stand up for others.
“This exhibition is a chance for people on campus to come together and promote inclusivity and acceptance for all students. I hope that people can learn from Anne’s story to be brave and have compassion no matter what,” LAHS senior Sydney Forsyte said.
Forsyte is a student representative for Anne Frank LA and has worked with the program and LAHS staff to bring the exhibit to the Griffin campus. Anne Frank LA is a non-profit organization from Los Angeles focused on spreading Anne Frank’s story through educational programs and community events around California.
“The goal is to create a safe space on campus where students can learn how to apply the morals Anne’s story teaches us to their own lives,” Forsyte said.
This exhibit gives students the opportunity to become docents and guide others through the exhibit during elective periods. Docents will attend a two-day training on Oct. 7-8 from 7:30 a.m. — 2:17 p.m. During the training, docents will learn about the Holocaust, Anne Frank’s story and larger themes that connect with the modern world. Docents will also gain leadership and advocacy skills and may receive up to 20 volunteer hours.
“If you are a student, you should sign up to become part of the docent program, where you will be able to lead other groups of students around the exhibit. This is a great way to help serve your community and gain valuable leadership skills. It will be fun, I promise!” Forsyte said.

Dear Sydney – I love you and am so proud of you and your leadership in this Anne Frank educational program. I can’t be a docent because I live so far away, but I can contribute monetarily, and I will. Love, Grandma
