LOS ALAMITOS, CA– On  May 5, 2023, record-breaking music artist Taylor Swift announced the long-anticipated rerelease of her 2010 album “Speak Now”. Speak Now (Taylor’s version) will be released to the public on July 7, 2023. Despite popular announcement theories such as October 25, 2023, which would also be Speak Now’s 13th anniversary, this special announcement took place during the famous The Eras Tour, in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Originally released in 2010, “Speak Now” is a long-loved country album featuring beloved 14 songs such as “Never Grow Up” and “Dear John”. Out of ten albums, Swift currently has the rights to six out of ten albums. Albums produced within 2006-2017 are owned by Big Machine Records, which she signed to at age 15. Unowned albums include “Taylor Swift”, “Fearless”, “Speak Now”, “Red”, “1989”, and “Reputation”. “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” was published on April 9, 2021, followed by “Red (Taylor’s Version)” on November 12, 2021. 

Unlike the rest of her albums, “Speak Now” was entirely self-written. There are no co-writers in the original and thanks to her genius album switch of the song “If It Was a Movie” to “Fearless (Taylors Version)”, the upcoming album
“Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” will continue to hold the notorious self-written title. The newly introduced album cover is more of a close-up of Swift wearing a purple dress with her body facing right, compared to the original with a more full body shot wearing a similar dress facing left. Fans noticed a similar idea with “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” where, in the original cover, Swift is facing right and the Taylor’s Version edition has Swift facing left. Fans theorize the possibility of the change emphasizing a new direction in her career. 

“I always looked at this album as my album,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post. “I consider this music to be, along with your faith in me, the best that’s ever been mine.”

Along with the rereleasing comes six new songs from the vault. “The Vault” is a boxed set of music material that was intended for certain collections that did not make it into the original album. While there is much information disclosed about this new album, her fans “Swifties” have many creative predictions surrounding not only “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” but the hope for “Debut (Taylor’s Version)”, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”, and “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” which release dates are unconfirmed. 

Shortly after Swift released her 10th album “Midnights,” she launched the Eras Tour, which featured forty songs from all albums, including two surprise songs which are only played at one show each and never repeated. This rule is exempted if the song is on “Midnights” or if she makes a mistake when performing. Currently, Swift has one song “Enchanted” on the standard set list, but has played five “Speak Now” songs as surprise songs including “Mine” and “Sparks Fly”. It is unknown if Swift will add more unplayed “Speak Now” songs to the main list after July 7th, but because Swift changes the set list randomly there is still a possibility. 

Although unexpected, the announcement of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” has left her fans anticipating the July 7 arrival of this beloved album as well as how this reproduction will affect The Era’s tour. An album created to represent the ups and downs of growing up has fans emotional over the future possibilities about not only what “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” holds, but also the future of Swift’s career.
