LOS ALAMITOS, CA – This past weekend, Los Alamitos High School had its annual winter formal at House of Blues Anaheim. Because of the Mardi Gras- and “The Princess and the Frog”-inspired theme, “Night in New Orleans” had many students dressing in their best bold colors. Some were adorned with feathers, Mardi Gras beads, and even capes.

Leading up to this past Saturday evening, Los Al’s ASB had a spirit week to get students more involved. The ASB Instagram account had information regarding the dance with #WOFO which prompted students to call the dance “Wonter Formal” as a joke.

The students enjoyed a billiards table, air hockey, foosball, a photo booth, karaoke, and of course, the dance floor. House of Blues also had a station to get airbrush tattoos and a caricature artist.

The music was lively and encouraged people to dance all night. Although the dance floor had most of the students occupied, many ventured to the karaoke room and sang at the top of their lungs or tried beating their friends at a game of air hockey.

Both floors of the venue had tables filled with refreshments for students throughout the night. The upper level had seating and offered a view of the dance floor below.

The DJ had a variety of songs playing, ranging from Pitbull’s “Hotel Room Service” to Post Malone’s “Sunflower” to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.” The students enjoyed the music on the dance floor until 10 p.m., when the formal court winners were announced. Jackson Canning, king; Charlotte McGrath, queen; Erin Teoco, princess; and Ryan Ramirez, prince were crowned Winter Formal Court. To celebrate, Ramirez took to the dance floor with a friend as others watched from the side.

All in all, the students of Los Al had an unforgettable “Night in New Orleans!”
