LOS ALAMITOS, CA — The display had evening shows on Thursday and Friday; there was a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday as well as a 7 p.m. show. Many Los Alamitos High School Choir alumni attended the holiday show during its Saturday 7 p.m. show.
The show was a compilation of holiday classics and a few newer songs; it started with the entire Los Al choir program performing the opening song, “A Swinging Little Christmas Time.” The ensemble finished off the show with “Put A Little Love In Your Heart.”
Sound FX, the advanced mixed show choir, recently performed their set for “Holiday Inn” on a KTLA5 broadcast about school spirit. The “Holiday Inn” set ended the first act of the Christmas showcase, and it features extensive routines involving tap-dancing and jump-roping. About a quarter through the song, a versatile routine began. The performers continuously join in jump-roping all the while tap-dancing. In another routine, the tap dancers throw up wreaths and perform with one around each of their waists. Chason Bytel, a member of the intermediate mixed show choir Connexion, starred in this number and several others during the show as Santa Claus. Overall, the act was filled with energy from every member of the choir.
Sofia Youngs, a senior, attended the show and commented that she enjoyed seeing her friend Sawyer Mulligan’s “Blue Christmas” solo act. Mr. Moellenkamp, director of choral activities, has commented that Sawyer’s voice has one of the top five singing tones in the entire choir program. Mrs. McCann, who attended the Thursday show, mentioned how she loved seeing students from her French classes performing.
The main goal of the show was to spread cheer to everyone involved. From the choir directors seeing their students flourish to the performers putting their best efforts on stage, many enjoyed the show greatly.
