LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — On Friday, Sept. 19, Los Alamitos High School had their Homecoming game. Our Griffins played exceptionally well, and the final score was 47-42 with LAHS dominating the game!

There were a total of 12 nominees, and during halftime, the Homecoming winners were announced. Kassidy Fox was crowned as the Homecoming queen, and Kevens Wempe was crowned as the Homecoming king.

The theme was “Party in the U.S.A.,” and LAHS students had an amazing time using their creativity to dress up! The student section was filled with red, white and blue as well as many American flags, cowboy hats and face paint. Students cheered on the football team and sang along to the music played over the speakers.

“I voted for Kevens (for king) and for queen, (Kassidy Fox,) and I was really happy to see they both won,” said Pantera Fancy, an LAHS freshman.

Kassidy Fox is a part of LAHS’ SoundFX Choir. Her twin brother, Konner Fox, also ran for the court but unfortunately didn’t win. The Homecoming king, Kevens Wempe, is on the varsity basketball team.

Students enjoyed cheering on both winners and watching the spectacular half-time show. Song and cheer, color guard, marching band and the dance team all performed on the field. LAHS’ student section stands were lively and thriving for the duration of the show.

“I really liked the food trucks, and the student section was pretty cool. My favorite part of the game was when our team had the comeback and we ended up winning,” said Dane Perkins, an LAHS freshman.

The game resumed, and our Griffins played as fierce as ever. LAHS had an outstanding comeback and beat the opposing team by five points. Homecoming was a huge success for everyone on and off the field. The night was a great kickoff of spirit that is sure to follow throughout the rest of the year.
