LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Girls’ tennis and girls’ golf are some of Los Alamitos High School’s outstanding sports teams. The girls have started their 2025 fall season and are excited to continue their dominance in their respective sports.
Tennis
Girls’ tennis is currently in the 2025 season with LAHS Coach Kibtya, and she is ready to guide her players this season. She enjoys watching a good match, where the skills she has taught them really shine through.
“My favorite thing is competing, and I especially love to see the thrill of a close match,” Kibtya said.

The girls’ tennis team loves supporting each other during matches. One strong player, Emma Foden, believes that the best thing she can do for her fellow teammates is to lift one another up.
“I like how we have a really strong team dynamic. Everyone is really supportive of each other, cheering on the rest of the team,” Foden said.
Girls’ tennis is in for an interesting season, starting off strong with wins against Long Beach High School, Newport Beach High School, Wilson High School on Aug. 21 and Newport Harbor High School on Sept. 18.
The tennis team has worked very hard with Coach Kibtya, and whether they are going home with a win or a loss, they are always optimistic.
Golf
Girls’ golf is in for a promising 2025 season with Coach Haygood, who has led his players to league victory for the past six years and is hoping to add a seventh title to their streak.
“We have a couple of battles ahead of us, but if we take care of business against those schools, then we have a good chance of winning,” said Haygood.
He highlights two star players on the varsity girls’ golf team, Lauren Shin and Ashley Han, who are both looking forward to a successful season.

“I am looking forward to another good season,” Shin said.
The team has gotten a good start to the season with multiple wins, including a win against Wilson High School on Aug. 25 and Newport Harbor High School on Sept. 4.
The golf team is confident in their season, ready to continue with their impressive win streak. Coach Haygood will continue to hold his players to the highest standards.
“I have some high expectations for my golfers,” Haygood said.
These expectations are shown through the impressive win streak maintained by the golf team.
Both girls’ golf and girls’ tennis are gearing up for many wins for their 2025 season, so look out for them as their games come to a close.
