LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — The 2025-2026 school year has officially begun for Los Alamitos High School and with it comes new opportunities, new classes and new leaders. In April of this year, students at LAHS elected Ella Pardasani as their associative student body president and Isabella (Izzy) Leon-Huber as their vice president.

Both Pardasani and Leon-Huber have been in ASB for two years and are involved in many different aspects of campus. Pardasani is a member of the girls’ varsity tennis team and Leon-Huber is in Soundtrax choir. Already working together the previous school year as junior class presidents, the pair’s positive experience urged them to decide to run for ASB president and vice president. Under this role, Pardasani and Leon-Huber will work together to lead ASB.
“Our job is to serve as a bridge between the student body and LAHS administration (from) getting stuff approved and (gaining) students’ perspective,” said Pardasani.
For this school year, Pardasani and Leon-Huber’s main priorities are to foster unity and take initiative. Starting this summer, the two started working to build unity from the inside out. Over the summer, ASB spent time together to get an early start at team bonding. The goal was to ensure ASB would be a tight-knit family and that their connectivity would transfer throughout campus. Ensuring ASB as a whole is connected was extremely important.
“If the people who are supposed to be spreading the spirit aren’t into it then the (students) aren’t going to be,” said Leon-Huber.
Pardasani and Leon-Huber want to be more proactive and take initiative this school year. Over the years, past LAHS student leaders have established many traditions that the current student body honors and maintains. However, the pair does not want LAHS to remain stuck in tradition; thus, a major goal is to introduce new events.
A major change Pardasani and Leon-Huber have announced is the school’s Homecoming Dance. In the past, the Homecoming football game would take place on a Friday and the dance would be held the following Saturday. This year, the Homecoming dance will take place immediately after the game, stocked with colorful lights, a DJ and food. Pardasani and Leon-Huber urge students to get involved; whether it’s joining a club, playing a sport or cheering at a sports game, students will not regret it.

Along with Pardasani and Leon-Huber as the new faces behind the student body, LAHS also has a new face behind their activities program. Beginning in this school year, Ms. La Vache has been appointed the new LAHS Activities Director. Ms. La Vache has been a teacher for 15 years and during this time she worked as a history and yearbook teacher at Oak Middle School. Already working with student leaders in yearbook, she is excited to work and help students’ visions at LAHS come true.
As the activities director, Ms. La Vache oversees anything on campus that is not a sport or an art. From pep rallies to dances, she directs these events and seeks to maximize involvement. Her priority is for every student on campus to feel like they belong. The Los Alamitos Unified School District is composed of six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. Admiring the size and community of LAUSD as unique, Ms. La Vache wants to start catering to students beginning in transitional kindergarten.
“If students walk onto (LAHS) campus, and it’s their first time, they will already feel like they’re a Griffin and they’re welcome,” said Ms. La Vache.
LAHS Griffins can find Ms. La Vache, Pardasani and Leon-Huber in the ASB and activities office. They are there for support and are open to hearing any ideas students may have for the campus.
