Jaya Eapen, Staff Writer l Audience Editor
Jaya Eapen is a junior at Los Alamitos High School, and this is her second year at the Griffin Gazette. With her optimistic and creative personality, she is extremely excited to get back into writing and explore new topics. Jaya is currently an editorial intern for Spotlight Schools, as well as a student representative for the Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Friends of the Library Board. In her free time, Jaya enjoys reading, sewing and playing her flute. She is also interested in graphic design and hopes to grow her experience and skills this upcoming year.

Jasmine Lee, Staff Writer l Audience Editor
Jasmine Lee is a senior at Los Alamitos High School and this is her second year with the Griffin Gazette and her first year as an editor. She is a member of CSF and Literature Appreciation Club and acts as a co-student representative for the Los Alamitos and Rossmoor Friends of the Library Board. During her year in journalism, she hopes write more news and opinion articles while focusing on different points of view. Jasmine returned to the journalism class this year because she loves the close-knit community of the class and reporting on different topics. With the help of her classmates, she hopes to create a strong news community dedicated to sharing stories local to her area.

Bella Kim, Editor-in-Chief
Bella Kim is a senior at Los Alamitos High School. This is her third year with the Griffin Gazette and second year as editor-in-chief. Bella has won four Best of SNO awards, most recently for her article “Girl assumed to be TikToker Siyah died after shooting at Cerritos mall Saturday night.” Over the summer, she represented California at the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference in Washington, D.C. She has interned for the Orange County education news site Spotlight Schools and reported for South Bay Youth Journalism, a program by the newsroom CalMatters.
Bella placed second in the California Journalist of the Year award, and this summer, she has a paid internship with L.A. Times High School Insider. She will attend Stanford University next fall to study journalism and creative writing.
On campus, Bella is president of Interact Club and Literature Appreciation Club. She is an avid reader of historical fiction and mystery and dances at Los Alamitos Ballet School. Bella enjoys poetry, going to the beach and writing satire. She also likes musicals, roller coasters and collecting bookstore tote bags.

Maleah Fennessey, Staff Writer
Maleah Fennessey is a senior at Los Alamitos High School. She discovered her passion for journalism in middle school and wants to pursue science journalism in the future. She is interested in writing about school news, opinion pieces and reviews and reporting on new trends. Maleah is president of the Creative Writing Club and is involved in MUN, Link Crew and Literature Appreciation Club. She enjoys reading, writing, baking cookies and watching horror movies in her free time. If she’s not out with her friends, she’s listening to music or bothering her dog, Sammie.

Sydney Forsyte, Editor I Executive Producer
Sydney Forsyte is a senior at Los Alamitos High School. This is her third year in journalism, and the summer before last, she participated in the New York Times Summer Institute. This year, she wants to focus on her role as an editor in order to shape other people’s voices. She is also continuing her work on the broadcast, Griffin Gazette Live, and is the executive producer this year. Sydney enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, traveling and baking. She is also a part of a few clubs, including Literature Appreciation Club, Teens for Climate Club and Emerging Leaders Club. Her favorite subject is English, and she hopes to write more reviews and profiles this year.
