LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Resembling the iconic Cher Horowitz from “Clueless,” Angela Jalandoni waltzed into prom with her boyfriend Cameron Lovingier by her side as this year’s most-beloved sweetheart (and, as she will later find out, this year’s prom queen). For the Griffin Gazette, Jalandoni documented her memorable moments leading up to taking the crown, revealing her authenticity, classiness and ambition.

In an interview prior to prom, she runs through the stages from campaigning, getting ready and styling as she steps on her own runway carpet of the California Science Center in Los Angeles.

Although a satin slip dress and minimal accessories can cut it, prom has always been seen as a fashionable affair. For this year’s “A Night Under the Stars” theme, many girls showcased their interpretations of constellations, dark mystique and nightlife in a single look.

“’Gossip Girl’ is definitely a show that has influenced and inspired my prom dress this year. I love the (flattering) style of many of the characters in the show, and I wanted my dress to have those same qualities” Jalandoni said.

Without overthinking it, the original and chic girl fell back on her natural instincts. Inspired by the television series “Gossip Girl” and its many iconic characters, she decided to embrace the timeless elegance of the show’s old money looks, playing on the theme as she comes out in a navy, satin maxi dress with lace trimming. Her accessories consist of gold jewelry and tan lines.

“We got some pretty good tan lines (a few days ago at Sunset Beach), and I think they’ll look super cute with my dress,” Jalandoni said.

“It’s simple and unique at the same time,” Jalandoni said. Her maxi dress is a master class in sleek and stunning. Lovingier stands by her side, complementing her navy dress with his navy suit.

As a dancer, she’s always calling her own stunts, always full of fresh energy. When Lovingier and Jalandoni brought their relationship into the wild and competitive scene of prom court, they did it for the thrill!

“(Cam and I) decided to campaign together for fun to see how it would go. We sent posts to everyone we knew at school and told them to repost the pictures. We also told them to send the pictures to their friends,” Jalandoni said.

As much of a popularity contest as prom nominations and the following voting process is, the outgoing and inimitable couple still meticulously crafted several campaign posters and engaged in many conversations surrounding their goals of becoming prom king and queen.

“I think Angie won because she is very well-known around the school. I think a lot of people around here know her as super kind and caring. But she still posted a lot about (voting for us) through Instagram and Snapchat to let as many people know. I was super happy when I won with her,” Lovingier said.

Despite the recent noise surrounding LAHS’ 2025 prom court (more can be found in Bella Kim’s latest article), Jalandoni and Lovingier stayed in their element by focusing on themselves.

“Getting ready was stressful because I was anxious about the results of the prom king and queen, but I still took time to enjoy the process,” Jalandoni said.

In the end, the darling, romantic and genuine couple’s aspirations eventually came through. Let’s hear it for Angela Jalandoni and Cameron Lovingier one more time in this too-good-to-be-true rom-com!
