At the start of class, Coach Bowe demonstrated the supine roll. He picked several students to help with the demonstration and had the rest of the class stand in a circle to watch. The "patient," junior Kenneth Mao, laid on the floor in the middle of the circle. As Coach Bowe controlled Mao's head and shoulders to prevent a spinal injury, the students helped him roll Mao on his side. One student then pushed the board against Mao's side, and the group rolled him onto the board. The group made a few minor adjustments to Mao's positioning before adding velcro blocks to hold his head in place. "Last year it was pretty fun, and I have a potential career in this field, so I thought Advanced Sports Medicine was a good pathway to go through," Mao said. "It's very interactive and fun, and you meet a lot of people. I didn't know any of these people coming into this class. Now I'm like best friends with all of them."
