LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — In a recent press statement, Google announced that it would begin integrating AI into more products and services following the success of its “AI Overview” within its search engine. The company’s reasoning behind their move to expand the usage of their models has been explained by CEO Sundar Pichai, citing their near 1-to-1 ratio of searches to overviews along with 100% usage rates among staff within their testing divisions.
“We’ve gotten a lot of coverage about our AI services, and I think it’s a sign that we should be starting to expand our department,” Pichai said. “It’s exciting to see the new ideas that our team members at DeepMind have come up with since our last shareholder meeting.”
While most planned expansions of the company’s AI into separate products haven’t been revealed publicly yet, team members have stated their excitement about current goals in their blog. Specifically, the company aims to streamline service usage, with examples of future options to respond on Gmail automatically, attend Google Meet using a chatbot and create and upload videos for YouTube every minute.
In the future, Google has also promised additional technologies available from DeepMind, although nothing else has been mentioned other than the planned “phasing out of user input more complicated than asking questions” and keeping the trend of scientific-sounding naming conventions.
Though Google has received criticism over their planned changes, the company has assured users that the energy used by their software is “probably negligible” and that each site utilizing AI in the future will include a disclaimer about its accuracy at the bottom of the page.
“Our employees at DeepMind are hard at work developing state-of-the-art technology,” Pichai said. “We recommend that anyone interested in saving singular clicks when online should keep their eyes peeled for everything we have in store over the next few years.”

Ryan, thank you for taking on the so satire-able topic of AI! I think the scientific-sounding names are a great addition by Google.
