LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Los Alamitos High School has become one of the schools in the United States to face a severe outbreak among 12th graders with senioritis. High schools throughout America have been facing this massive outbreak and are now seeing dire consequences and impact in local communities.

The CDC has officially classified senioritis as a clinical term to describe the fatigue seniors in high school feel as they near the end of the second semester. Symptoms include constant procrastination, skipping classes, lack of motivation, boredom, failing grades, sleeping in late and more. If suffering from this, students may experience lower grades, tardies, absences and being late to class.

As students near the end of high school and the beginning of greater things, motivation has reached dangerously low levels.

“Around the second semester of the year, seniors face a mild case of senioiritis but this year’s seems much more severe,” said CDC director Tim Murphy.

In hopes of controlling and containing the massive outbreak, CDC administrators are encouraging students to self-quarantine themselves in their room for seven days while watching motivational content from life coaches on TikTok and avoiding affected students as the disease can be transmitted very easily and quickly.

Many LAHS students, such as Hannah Stockton, have been affected by senioritis by their friends.

“I didn’t even know what was happening until I talked to one of my friends. Next thing I know, I’m constantly late to every class and forget to submit my work,” said Stockton.

Recently, teachers have been noticing a pattern with students in which they value their schoolwork and academic achievements less than before.

“Nowadays, students don’t care and are just sleeping anywhere. I even saw students sleeping while standing up,” said AP Psychology teacher, Mrs. Hudson.

Commonly, during lecture time, instead of taking notes and paying attention, seniors have found a way to bypass the security firewall and have been spotted playing Roblox and the WiFi Chrome Dinosaur game during class.

“We are warning the American people that this is an extremely contagious disease. Please take this seriously and protect your senior students,” said Murphy.
