LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Griffin Games is back this year with Team Red (freshmen and seniors) competing against Team Blue (sophomores and juniors) in this fun-filled week of events and excitement.

Ms. Schanaker, one of the ASB teachers at Los Alamitos High School, is guiding her students to organize and run Griffin Games this week.

“It’s a fun way to be with your friends and do something that isn’t academic during the school day,” she said.

For the past few years, Griffin Games has been a week of competitions and lunch events, ending with an outdoor field day on the last day of the week. Due to high costs and a lack of student engagement, the ASB team changed Griffin Games to a traditional assembly format with dress-up days, lunch activities and an assembly at the end of the week.

Joy Shenouda, a senior at LAHS, is in ASB and encourages students to participate in the games this week.

“Participation is more than just dressing up. It brings you closer to your friends and the school,” she said.

Throughout this week, students can participate in lunch activities to earn points for their team. Dressing up, posting a picture of your outfit and tagging the ASB Instagram (@losalofficial) will also add more points for your team.

The ASB group organizing the week encourages students to apply to play in the assembly! You can find the application on the ASB Instagram.

On Monday, students participated in a “Finish the Lyrics” game in front of the PAC for Mathletes vs. Athletes.

Tuesday called for ’80s or ’70s clothes! At lunch, there was a staff cannonball contest at the pool.

Wednesday is Soccer Mom vs. BBQ Dad. Enjoy your minimum day, and make sure you come to the Open House and Spring Showcase at 6 p.m. on campus.

Thursday is Snooze vs. Jungle Cruise with a scavenger hunt for the lunch activity.

To end the spirit week on Friday, students will attend an assembly in the gym; wear red if you are a freshman or senior and blue if you are sophomore or a junior!

Good luck, Griffin, and may the best team win!
