LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — For the second time, the district-wide staff improv show returns to Los Alamitos High School on March 5 at 6 p.m. This comedic event showcases the talents of faculty and staff from across the Los Alamitos Unified School District. The last performance drew an audience of over 300 people to the LAHS PAC.
The staff improv show will have three teams competing against each other, and the winning team will be awarded a trophy.
“It’s most likely going to be really funny, and many people probably know or had a lot of the teachers or principals going to be in it throughout the district. They’ll probably mess up and make it more funny,” Mr. Barker, the LAHS improv coach, said.
Two judges, LAUSD’s superintendent and assistant superintendent, will decide the winner. Even though the audience will cheer and try to influence them, the judges get to pick who wins each round and the final winner. Mr. Barker explained how the teachers will be judged:
“It’s whatever they decide they like best,” he said.
The entrance fee is only $10, so attending the show is very inexpensive, but all the proceeds will go to help LAHS drama students attend their state festival in mid-March and nationals in the summer.
The drama teacher at LAHS, Mrs. Castiglione, shared why people should attend the improv show.
“It is fun to see teachers from your past: from elementary schools all over the district, middle schools and of course some teachers from our school,” she said.
Mrs. Castiglione, known to students as Mrs. C, will also be performing, and so will over 20 other teachers (about four teachers per school). However, there were a couple of schools that didn’t have enough staff volunteers, so some school staff members will be on the same team as another school.
Make sure to support these staff members and come to the improv show tomorrow! Students can purchase tickets from an improv player, at losal.booktix.com or buy tickets at the door.
