LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Our psychologists do so much for the students at Los Alamitos High School. Meet Mrs. Belisle, Mrs. Carillo and Mrs. Morris. Each psychologist holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, which takes four years to earn. They also have a master’s in educational psychology and an education specialist degree in school psychology, which takes one year to earn.
Mrs. Belisle
Mrs. Belisle, one of the two special needs psychologists, helps students to feel their best by figuring out how students can learn better to succeed. She assists in finding problems that may make learning more difficult. Mrs. Belisle assesses those problems and finds out how to direct the students so they can flourish.
“Our goal is to help students build positive emotions while learning healthy ways to cope with negative ones, so they feel ready to succeed at school,” Mrs. Belisle said.
Mrs. Carillo
Mrs. Carillo helps support students’ mental health, behavioral and academic needs. She guarantees all students have access to support when dealing with challenges that can be harmful to their academic performance. Mrs. Carillo also deals with social-emotional problems in students to allow them to widen their social circle.
“We work with a wide range of students and needs that focus on ensuring all students have equal access to their education and is connected with a variety of supports on campus. While we most often work with students experiencing challenges, we also love to be a part of student successes and wins!” Mrs. Carillo said.
Mrs. Morris
Mrs. Morris, contrasting Mrs. Belisle and Mrs. Carillo who focus on special education, works to help students with general education. She motivates students to set goals and helps students feel their best in order to succeed. Mrs. Morris is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, meaning she mainly analyzes the behavior of students.
