LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Los Alamitos High School’s Music Studio’s end-of-semester performance is happening very soon! This show will occur at Bogart’s Coffee House on Ocean Ave. in Seal Beach on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m., so don’t miss out on this one-time performance.
Music Studio is a supportive class run by Mrs. Dherlin, one of LAHS’ show choir directors. However, students learn from each other rather than the teacher. They get familiar with new instruments, Garage Band and work together with people they may not have known before.
“Music Studio is cool because (there are) a lot of musicians that can work together to make a student-produced show. They get a real-life, professional sense of making, producing and performing music to the public,” said Mrs. Dherlin.
This December show is just one of two major shows that Music Studio hosts. Their winter performance allows students to show off their musical abilities to the public. The end-of-semester performance is not only a showcase of abilities but also their final, so they work day in and day out to perfect their performances. They also have a performance in May as their spring final performance.
“It’s like we’re growing our own little year-long family – all of us bonding over our passion for music and performing,” Alyssa Wiitanen, a student in Music Studios, said.
Bogart’s Coffee House is very active in community events. If you check out their events page, you’ll see features from many other smaller artists. The owners of Bogart’s have made sure to create a welcoming atmosphere for all new members. The cafe hosts Tuesday open mics and promotes local musicians on the weekends. Be sure to swing by Bogart’s Coffee House on any of those days to see underground musical talents.
This performance will be a great way to close out the end of the semester by showing everything these students have learned over the past few months. If you want to support the LAHS Music Studios class, make sure to drop by Bogart’s Coffee House in Seal Beach at 6 p.m. on Dec. 12, and make sure to cheer them on as they end their first semester of music production.
