LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — “The Lightning Thief, The Percy Jackson Musical” is coming to Los Alamitos High School! The show, run by LAHS’s drama department, will be having four shows Oct. 17-19. The students in the show and helping behind the scenes have worked hard for the past month to make this a reality, so make sure you buy your tickets soon!
The musical will have its shows at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17-19, as well as an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Oct. 19. The show will be held in the Performing Arts Center, where tickets will be sold at the door for $15 or on the LAHS drama website.
Students have taken time out of their days to rehearse after school for weeks to make this show as perfect as possible for everyone who attends.
“I would describe the show as being able to balance action and drama with humor. It allows your imagination to take control and have a fun time watching,” said Kasey Chu, co-costume designer for the musical and a junior at LAHS.
If you take interest in a dramatic story line mixed with musical tunes, this musical is for you.
“This show is a huge rock musical. It’s got lots of power and pops off the stage,” said Myles Zintl, who plays Grover in the musical. “Every person in this show is super energetic, and we all love every second we’re on stage!”
Students who’ve contributed their time said that they’ve had so much fun putting the show together, so make sure you get your tickets before they sell out!
“People should come to see the show to not only support the theater community but to see a collaboration between the drama department, instrumental (department), music department and dance department and to have a really great time,” said Mrs. Castiglione, LAHS’s drama teacher and the musical’s director.
Attending the show is a great opportunity to see the hard work and passion of fellow classmates and the drama department. Bring your friends and come out to support!
“This show is a great story with incredible technical elements and performances by our actors,” said assistant director and LAHS senior Sarah Roundabush. “It’s amazing overall and won’t disappoint.”
