LOS ALAMITOS, CA – Whether you keep up with football or not, “Superbowl” might be a word you’ve heard a lot recently. Known for the rowdy fans, funny commercials, and insane halftime show, the game will be airing live this Sunday, Feb. 11.
Who’s playing?
After 272 games in the NFL (National Football League) season, equaling out to 17 games per team, only two teams remain to play for the ultimate title. Those two teams are the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.
During their season, the Chiefs had a total of 11 wins and six losses. The Chiefs have made it to the Superbowl a total of six times (not including this year), four of which were in the past five years. The Kansas City team has won the Superbowl three times, in 1970, 2020, and 2023.
The San Francisco 49ers have a total of 12 wins and five losses throughout their 2023-2024 season. The 49ers will be making their eighth appearance at the Superbowl this year. They’ve won a total of five times, in 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, and 1995.
Who’s performing the half-time show?
The infamous Superbowl half-time show drives in loads of viewers, as it is always a huge production with lots of excitement. Both new and old stars perform onstage with lots of props and sometimes surprise guests. The 2023 Superbowl halftime show was performed by Rihanna, and she got viewers up and out of their seats with her most popular hits, choreography, and insane outfits.
This year, Usher will be performing the halftime show. There isn’t much information out yet, but the “Yeah!” singer will bring everything he has and get the fans roaring. The show is usually full of fun surprises, so hopefully he continues the tradition. No one knows for sure, but there are rumors saying that he might bring out Justin Bieber, Ludacris, or Alicia Keys since he has collaborated with them in the past.
When and where is the game?
The game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3:30 p.m., and will be played at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you aren’t at the game, you can view it from home on the channels ABC, CBS, or other streaming platforms.
Although the game starts at 3:30, there are other TV specials that will be on throughout the whole day, such as the Puppy and Kitten Bowls and oodles of funny commercials featuring celebrities and new products.
With lots of anticipation and excitement, one of America’s most popular annual events has finally come. So this Sunday, make sure to grab your friends and your favorite snacks to tune into the 2024 Superbowl game!
