LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Yale University is hosting a free class called “The Science of Well-Being for Teens”, beginning June 2, where students can learn about teen mental health. It is a six-week online course that explores the field of psychology and the extent of students’ happiness. It is also one of the most popular classes offered at Yale University.

This course is specifically configured for teens in any stage of high school. The class is being taught by Laurie Santos, a psychology professor with an instructor rating of 4.9/5 (63 Ratings). The course will take approximately 12 hours, and 87,706 students have already enrolled.

The class itself has a rating of 4.8/5 (53 reviews). Some reviewers said that the course helped them immensely and that they couldn’t wait to use the information for themselves and even for their own kids.

The students and staff at Los Al became aware of this course because of a school-wide email sent out. Specifically, Los Al’s AP Psychology teacher, Mr. Anderson, already knew about Professor Santos from her “Happiness Lab Podcast.

However, the psychology class at Los Al is not the exact same as the course offered at Yale, as the course mostly talks about positive psychology, and the class here at Los Al does not specifically focus on that aspect of psychology.

“But if they liked the idea of psychology in general, then I would definitely say they should [take Los Al’s class]. [However,] I do think there’s a clear divide between them,” said Mr. Anderson, when asked if students who like Yale’s summer course should take his class.

If you are still interested in positive psychology, but you can’t take the class, you should check out the book “The Happiness Advantage” by Shawn Achor.

“I believe the class follows similarly along with that,” Mr. Anderson said. Check out “The Science of Well-Being for Teens,” and maybe you’ll realize you need some positive psychology in your life.
