LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Summer is just five days away, and many Los Alamitos High School students are already planning their summer vacations and activities. The Griffin Gazette has decided to take this opportunity to recommend some of our favorite fun and easy activities for students to try over summer break.

1. Smoothie popsicles

Make smoothie popsicles using these affordable popsicle molds from Amazon for a refreshing summer dessert. Use this recipe to cool off on a hot day or simply celebrate having no school.

2. Picnic in the park

Have a picnic in the park with some of your closest friends. Pack a lunch with some of your favorite sandwiches and snacks plus some refreshing drinks in order to have a wonderful time! All you need is a picnic blanket and a ride to a nearby park to have a relaxing summer day.

3. Bookstore hop

Go bookstore hopping with some fellow bookworms. Participating in this recent, popular trend on Instagram just requires you to visit a few local bookstores from your area, buying one book from each one. This activity is a great way to indulge in your love of reading and get to know your area a little better.

4. Beach bonfire

Have a bonfire at the beach. Bolsa Chica Beach is a great place to have a beach bonfire because there are always fire pits available for use. You can roast s’mores, go swimming, or just hang out by the fire during this cozy, enjoyable activity.

5. Movie night

Host a movie night. Whether you decide to watch on your computer screen, the TV in your living room, or on a projector in your backyard, all you need is a great movie and some delicious snacks to make it a great night.

6. Summer photo album

Make a photo album of all your favorite summer memories. Fill it with stickers, photos of your friends, and other fun mementos to preserve the fun you had this summer forever. This way, when you are struggling through future school years, you have a little piece of summer to cheer you up.

Everyone at the Griffin Gazette hopes you enjoy these ideas and have a fabulous summer! We’ll see you next year!
