LOS ALAMITOS, CA — Every year the lacrosse program holds a special Halloween event, the Halloween Scramble. It is an event where both the boy and girl teams have a scrimmage. The Gabriela Fukumura, coach of the girls lacrosse team, describes the event as “silly, chaotic, fun… [and] a bit scary”. All of the players wear Halloween costumes throughout the game.

The game is a fun event for both the players and the spectators. One member from the girls team, Kate Schumcher, described the event as “so much fun” and that “it was very engaging and exciting”. Being able to play with both the boys and girls and that the event was “important to the growth of the team” while also being about “getting out and having fun”.

Throughout the event players with elaborate costumes, like an inflatable Mr. Potato Head, play a scrimmage for fun before the season starts. The game is a low-stress event that brings both teams together for an event and bonding. At the end of the game, candy was given out to both players and spectators. The event was a blast for everyone involved and helped the players come together as teammates and play with people they usually never go against. Look out for more lacrosse in the future when the season begins.
